While acknowledging Anderson's partial ownership of the Yes trademark, Yes' management warned of potential confusion for ticket-buyers created by the concurrent use of the Yes name, a sentiment echoed by the other band's management in their challenge for them to similarly "identify their key members" in promotions. That confusion has been highlighted in press references to the groups as two distinct "versions", " factions" or "incarnations of Yes," and in one local media outlet, where their tours overlapped, who stated: "Yes is coming ... Twice." Anderson clarified the origins of ARW's use of the Yes name in a June 2018 interview, revealing that it was originally a suggestion from Squire's wife Scotland, after it became clear that her husband would pass away, to authorize ARW to use the Yes name, and that Howe and White, who co-owned the name with Anderson and Squire, had agreed and "been really cool about it". Members of both acts have expressed reluctance to reunite, though each has remained amicable regarding avoiding legal challenges to one another's use of the name.
Yes toured the US and Canada with the Yestival Tour from August to September 2017, performing at least one song from each album from Yes to Drama. Howe's son Dylan joined the band as a second drummer, the first time since the Union Tour that Yes had two drummers playing simultaneously. The last seven shows were cancelled following the unexpected death of Howe's son and Dylan's brother Virgil.
50th anniversary and continued touring (2018–present)
In February 2018, Yes headlined Cruise to the Edge involving original keyboardist Tony Kaye as a special guest, marking his first performances with the band since 1994.
