Robert Plant va indica ulterior ca principala sursa de inspiratie volumul Magic Arts In Celtic Britain, al istoricului Lewis Spence. Femeia din cintec reuneste trasaturile tuturor eroinelor din mitologia celtica, de la Zina Zinelor, Zeita Alba, Doamna Lacului, si Diana Cimpiilor Verzi, pina la Rhiannon Vrajitoarea. Padurile si izvoarele, cintaretul din flaut si Regina din Mai, elementele prezentate in versuri, se constituie intr-o invitatie de a abandona valorile societatii moderne in favoarea naturii si a traditiilor.

Dar „ Stairway To Heaven ” nu este numai una dintre cele mai frumoase melodii din istoria rockului, ci si prima care a fost suspectata de a contine un mesaj subliminal, constituind chiar punctul de pornire al unui val de „ cruciade ” antirock, duse de o mina de preoti, mult mai infricosatori in integrismul lor decit asa-zisele mesaje destinate coruperii tinerilor.

Si, pentru ca lucrurile sa fie si mai confuze, Plant ii va marturisi, in 1992, poate cu sinceritate, lui Markus Ott de la Rock Power: „ Am cintat, destul de mult timp, lucruri pe care nu le intelegea nimeni. Stairway To Heaven nu l-am inteles nici macar eu ”.

In noiembrie 1971 albumul ocupa locul intii in Marea Britanie si locul doi in USA.

„ Din punctul meu de vedere, cristalizeaza esenta formatiei. In piesa asta e tot si ne arata trupa la capacitatea ei maxima. Am avut grija sa nu lansam piesa pe single ( in Marea Britanie ). Ea trebuie ascultata alaturi de celelalte. Cred ca fiecare muzician vrea sa faca ceva cu care sa ramina in constiinta oamenilor pentru mai mult timp si noi cred ca am izbutit asta cu Stairway To Heaven. The Who au reusit probabil si ei acelasi lucru cu Tommy.

„ Stairway To Heaven s-a nascut dintr-o suflare. Atmosfera se bazeaza pe misticismul celtic, amplu dezvoltat in mitologia galezilor. Aceste influente s-au putut observa si pe al doilea album si inca de atunci am sugerat noua directie pe care doream s-o urmam. Asa a prins viata, pe rind Ramble On, Thank You, The Battle of Evermore.  The composition is credited to Page, Plant, and Berns, who had written a song of the same title, variations of which were recorded by Hoagy Lands and Solomon Burke in 1964 and 1965.

"Baby Come On Home" is a soul song by English rock band Led Zeppelin. It was recorded during sessions for the band's debut album but remained unreleased until 1993, when it was included on the compilation Boxed Set 2. The song was also included as a bonus track on the CD edition of the band's ninth studio album Coda as included in The Complete Studio Recordings (1993) and Definitive Collection Mini LP Replica CD Boxset (2008). In 2015, the song was included on disc one of the two companion discs of the reissue of Coda.

Background

The track stems from an old master reel labelled 'Yardbirds. October 10, 1968' (Led Zeppelin were called the "New Yardbirds" during their first months of existence). The master tape went missing for a number of years and allegedly turned up in a refuse bin outside Olympic Studios, following renovations in 1991. It was mixed by Mike Fraser for a much-belated release in 1993, with a single to promote the Boxed Set 2.The song was originally recorded under the title "Tribute to Bert Berns", in honour of the American songwriter, producer, and friend of Zeppelin guitarist Jimmy Page, who had died in December 1967.

 21.11.1995 - Legendary manager of Led Zeppelin Peter Grant died from a heart attack aged 60. Known as being one of the shrewdest and most ruthless managers in rock history, Grant secured 90% of concert gate money and intimidated record store owners who dealt in bootlegs. The former wrestler, also worked as a film extra and bodyguard. During the early 60’s Grant worked as a tour manager for Bo Diddley, The Everly Brothers, Little Richard, Chuck Berry, Eddie Cochran, Gene Vincent and The Animals.
